Miguel is a few years younger than me, in his mid-twenties. He enjoys sports, movies and the occasional night out drinking. He is also a type II diabetic. He has lived with the condition for several years now, and although he makes the best of his situation, he finds that he does not have as much energy as he used to, and it is becoming difficult for him to sustain his active lifestyle.

Pre Diabetes Symptoms

Before diabetes especially Type 2 develops, first there are symptoms of pre diabetes. This can also be referred to a ‘borderline diabetes’ or ‘impaired glucose tolerance or impaired fasting glucose’. This means that your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes and not high enough to be treated.

You Don’t Have to Be Old to Get Diabetes
Filed under DiabetesFeb 5Our modern day, Western Diet is creating an epidemic of diabetics and those with related diabetic conditions. We’ve gone from eating 70 pounds of sugar per person per year to eating 150 pounds, according the US Statistics. Teens and the fast food crowd eat way more. In our grandparents and great-grandparents day, there was no such thing as convenience food. It was the baby boomer that rode the first wave of fast and convenience foods. It was the baby boomers and their families that bought the ‘billions and billions served’. Now, it is them that are leading the obesity and diabetic wave.
